Nature & Nurture

A mother holds her daughter among delphiniums as they look toward a sunlit grove. As they experience the beauty of the nature together, they connect in a moment that nurtures them both. The mother provides safety, support, and experience. The daughter encourages the growth and development of her mother and provides joy and wonder.

The challenges of motherhood get me thinking about the role of nature versus nurture. I often pressure myself to do everything right, as if somehow, by nurturing them perfectly, their natures might be perfect. I remind myself that each new day, even each moment, is an opportunity to connect with my child. The best I can do is love my children with my whole heart and enable them to become the best version of themselves.
